Top CEOs and Federal Officials Gather for Benchmark Executive Search Event: “National Security Perspectives”
Technology, Federal Contracting and Intelligence Executives Convene for State of Cyber Security Panel
Reston, VA – More than 125 technology executives and government officials gathered at the Congressional Country Club on Veteran’s Day for “National Security Perspectives,” an annual event focused on the state of the nation’s cyber security. Hosted by Benchmark Executive Search and KippsDeSanto, the panel discussion and reception was headlined by keynote speaker Chris Inglis, Deputy Director for National Security Agency (NSA).
Benchmark, a leading recruiter for C and VP-level executives, board members and key federal advisors, organized “National Security Perspectives” to serve as a public-private platform to discuss the burning security issues that federal agencies and government contractors will spearhead in 2010.
Former CIO of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Alan Wade said of the event’s theme, “Cyber security is perhaps the most important element of our overall national security strategy. It not only protects us directly from cyber attacks but enables the intelligence community to gather and provide critical information needed in the field of battle to protect soldiers and win wars.”
Following an emotional Pledge of Allegiance led by an Army Special Forces soldier who had been critically wounded in service, Maureen “Mo” Baginski, former Director of Signals Intelligence for NSA, moderated a Q&A session. Panelists Casey Henson, CTO of DIA, Assistant Director of FBI Cyber Division Shawn Henry, and former CIO/CTO of NSA Press Winter were in agreement that government must work together with the private sector to develop solutions to address our nation’s cyber security threats.
“The ‘National Security Perspectives’ event afforded a rare opportunity to engage with officials from three agencies in addressing the community’s problems, many of which are common across the agencies,” said Bill Varner, President of ManTech International’s Mission Cyber and Technology Solutions Group. “It was a great opportunity for information sharing.”
Guy Filippelli, CEO of Berico Technologies added, “Once again, the event brought together an incredible keynote speaker, a solid panel, and a wonderful group of local leaders who are fast becoming friends. It’s definitely a ‘don’t-miss’ event on my schedule.”
