Heather Young is a co-founder and Partner of Benchmark Executive Search responsible for end-to-end search execution.  Her primary focus is on the Commercial IT and Internet services practice.

Heather brings to Benchmark broad experience in industry having been the Founder of a boutique Executive Search firm with 14 overall years experience in the Search industry, a Partner with a Private Equity firm as well as a Management Consultant in the Financial Services sector. Heather focuses on both Business Development and Client Management for the firm. Prior to joining Benchmark, Heather served as Managing Partner of Avalon Partners, a boutique Executive Search firm which she founded focused on recruiting leadership for technology and private equity firms. 

Heather also spent seven years as a Senior Director with TMP Worldwide (formerly the Guild Corporation) in their Americas Search Practice. Prior to founding Avalon, Heather was a Managing Director with Galen Capital Corp, a private equity and merchant banking firm, where she focused on sell-side Mergers and Acquisition transactions for the firm. Heather began her career as a Management Consultant with Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting) where she focused on leading technology consulting engagements within the Financial Services industry. She serves on various boards and is actively involved with several non-profit organizations in the Greater Washington area. Heather earned a B.S. in Finance, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Maryland School of Business and Management in 1990 while on full academic scholarship.
